In late 2018, Steve Bannon, previously a top aide to Donald Trump, visited the UK to deliver a address at the prestigious Oxford Union.

The event was disrupted by numerous protesters, and Bannon, who was due to board a flight that night, told Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Protesters slowed down my talk I doubt I can make the flight we are heading to heathrow".

Epstein responded: "That. Is a Gulf Air departing at 950 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "You are an amazing helper".

These exchanges were published on Wednesday together with more than 20,000 documents from the records of Epstein, the late financier convicted of sex crimes.

The release by the House oversight committee includes an text conversation where Bannon's identity is redacted. The BBC has been able to establish his identity by cross-referencing the timeline, occurrences, and locations referenced.

For example, Epstein discusses arranging a plane from the UK for the redacted user in the chat, and offers praise their "address at Oxford". Bannon participated in the Edinburgh conference on 14 November, and delivered the speech at the Oxford Union on November 16.

Bannon, who faces no allegations of any misconduct, declined to comment on the inquiry.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon served as Trump's key aides in the lead-up to the presidential election and during the initial phase of his first administration, but resigned from the White House in 2017.

He has acknowledged he was producing a film about Epstein prior to his death and allegedly has around 15 hours of recordings. In a recording of his podcast recently, he stated: "We're going to release the film, the five-part series, next year - early next year."

But the recently disclosed materials suggest Bannon's connection with Epstein extended than documenting his life, with the convicted paedophile occasionally appearing to serve like a personal assistant.

A short time prior to the exchange in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "what's it like to have the highest-paid travel agent in history ".

Bannon thanked him: "You are quite capable assistant", to which Epstein replied "Massages. Excluded".

Discussing a visit to "AD" in another message, Epstein assured Bannon: "I'll make sure you're well looked after."

The released messages also show Bannon and Epstein talking about UK politics in that year.

Earlier on the day of his address at the Oxford, Bannon texted Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit thing this morning with Nigel, Boris and Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a allusion to the UK prime minister, the embattled UK prime minister at the period, he added: "The guys are trying to move on. may today / tomorrow…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "I think staying as much as you can in the UK. Best-- so people see the dedication of your follow-up."

Shortly after, Epstein asked: "Can Theresa May survive". Bannon replied: "I don't see how however the people here have no balls" and added "Johnson ; Michael Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; Davis - someone has to take charge".

May was eventually removed in May 2019 after withstanding two votes of no confidence in late 2018.

A spokesman for the political party informed media: "Nigel Farage has never been in a gathering with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Boris Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest that encounter occurred.

The Congress will decide next week on whether the justice department should make public all its files concerning its investigation into Epstein, who died in jail in 2019.
